CLEVELAND STATE COMMUNITY COLLEGE Cleveland, Tennessee

Subject: Library Collection Review

The Library’s resources undergo continuous review.  Faculty and librarians work together to ensure that collections are current, authoritative, balanced and relevant to the college curriculum.  The review process is a collaborative effort that is adjusted to meet the needs of specific curriculum areas.  The following ranked criteria are considered when reviewing resources:

  1. Relevance to the curriculum;
  2. Faculty recommendations;
  3. Inclusion in a standard bibliography for academic library collections, such as Resources for College Libraries;
  4. Circulation and/or usage statistics;
  5. Availability of updated resources;
  6. Currency;
  7. Condition;
  8. Format.

The Library disposes of books which faculty agree are outdated and/or irrelevant to Cleveland State’s curriculum.  The Library honors faculty requests to keep books whenever possible.
