Academic advising at Cleveland State supports our institutional mission by aspiring to promote success and enhance quality of life in the development of life-long learners.  Academic advising is a collaboration between students, advisors, and institutional resources, designed to assist students in developing meaningful academic plans that lead to reaching academic and career goals.  Faculty advisors in the students’ academic focus area are the primary facilitators of this process.  New students are helped by New Student Advising and Registration (NSAR) advisors when they first enter the college, and continuing students can find their assigned advisor’s name in CougarNet.  Academic deans and/or advisors in the Summer Advising Center also provide assistance to transfer and readmit students.  Additional staff may also give advising assistance when needed.  Students may contact their academic advisor via phone or e-mail to schedule an appointment or get help from the dean of their area if scheduling conflicts arise.
